ABOUT THE Boston Now TOTE
The map illustrates the city as it is today with the city blocks colored: those rendered In white show Boston as it was during the Revolutionary period and the red border delineates the city’s edge during that period. The city blocks rendered in grey show the city as it developed.
Bostonians carry around a lot of stuff: lunch, laptops, reading material, umbrellas, extra clothing, shoes, and anything that they may have purchased no matter what the weather. When they leave home in the morning, they don’t frequently return until dinnertime or even bedtime. Consequently, they need a tote bag which is both spacious and will transition well from day into night. This is a really rugged tote bag reinforced with vegan leather on the bottom for the straps.

ABOUT THE BOSTON MAP INSERT
The five maps are snapshots of downtown Boston at half century intervals as it ‘gained ground’. These maps illustrates the transformation of the original Shawmut Peninsula into the modern city of Boston. Boston’s “Landmaking” unfolded over more than a century. Early projects leveled the surrounding hills to fill Mill Pond. Once that material was exhausted, workers hauled in soil from four of the remaining five hills and even used refuse as landfill before moving further away. These efforts steadily created new land to accommodate a growing population. Over time, Boston’s footprint expanded from roughly 800 acres to nearly 5,000, reshaping the coastline entirely. Each map captures a moment in this long process, with the final one depicting the city’s present-day form. This map will accompany the Boston Silk Scarf and Tote Bags.
